The Wolfpack’s memorable run to the National Championship nearly ended before it started. After rallying to force overtime, N.C. State trailed by six in the first extra session but forced the Waves to put the game away at the free throw line. They were unable to. The Wolfpack, meanwhile, rallied to reach a second overtime, and ultimately earned the win thanks to key free throws down the stretch from star Dereck Whittenburg. ― New Arena
